Joe Paterno to coach Penn State in 2011

On Tuesday afternoon¬†Penn State‘s iconic head coach confirmed in his weekly press conference that he intends to return to the sidelines in 2011.¬†Joe Paterno, who turns 84 next month, quickly put an end to some rumors that had run rampant on the internet in the past few days and have become the normal conversation to have at the end of each season in which it is suggested he will step down from coaching.

Asked about his intentions for coaching in 2011 Paterno said “I’m looking forward to it. We could be a pretty good football team next year, and I’d like to be part of it.”

The 2011 season would be Paterno’s 46th season as head coach.

“It’s been a good situation, and I don’t see any reason to leave it right now.”
