Twenty-one football programs took part in this year’s edition of the coaching carousel. Pittsburgh enjoyed it so much they did it twice! Now we move on and look to see how the assistant coaches shake out with 44 changes since mid-October, not including interim coaches, that surely make Joe Paterno laugh. There have been 874 coaching changes since Joe Paterno took over at Penn State in 1966. Can he reach that magical No. 900? It is certainly within reach, but we will see what 2011 brings.
On Examiner.com today I posted a three–part series recapping all of the changes in college football as far as head coaches are concerned. Of course you can review the updated coaching carousel I have here on the site as well for your easy reference to all of the changes, who is out and who is in an when those decisions were made, or reported.
So I ask you, before sharing my thoughts, which moves surprised you the most? Which ones seem like the best fit? Which coach looking for a new head coaching job will be the first to land back on his feet and in charge of another program? Which of the new head coaches will be the first to be fired moving forward?
