Mark Ennis from Big East Coast Bias joined the show to discuss the Big East’s future in regards to expansion and TV contracts. We’ll also get caught up on the spring that was and the fall to come.
Both Ennis and I have touched on the financial future of the Big East in the aftermath of the Pac 12 announcing their huge media rights agreement with ESPN and FOX. Be sure to read my take and then stop by Big East Coast bias for Mark’s thoughts. I think you will find we have some differences in opinion, which we discussed a little further. Mark follows the Big East a little closer than I do and speak to the issue slightly more authoritative than I probably can.
In addition to the future of the conference we also take a look at the expansion issue that continues to loom in the conference. Will Villanova eventually be accepted or will another football program help out the Big East’s football operations? Ennis suggests the conference is doing some soul-searching in the whole process, which has caused a delay from what we thought was a done deal a few weeks ago in regards to Villanova.
In the time remaining we also touch on a few teams and their themes for 2011. West Virginia has the coaching transition underway. Syracuse and Louisville look to continue to improve after an uplifting 2o10 season for each. Cincinnati looks to rebound back to the top of the conference. Can they? I also touched on these topics in my Monday column on Examiner.com.
