Baylor Heisman campaign for Robert Griffin III rekindles my love for trading cards

Who doesn’t love trading cards?

When I returned home from the ACC Football Kickoff in Pinehurst, North Carolina I had a couple things waiting for me in the mail. Aside from some usual junk mail and the weekly flyer for my grocery store there was not much to be excited about, until I came across an envelope from Baylor’s athletic department. Knowing that there was no possible way I would be offered a scholarship, I was curious what could be inside.

As I suspected, it was a piece of Heisman Trophy campaign propaganda to advertise Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III. Have a look at the front of the trading card, which came in a protective case….

… and the back….

Griffin is one of the more exciting players to watch in college football and if it were not for him in 2010 nobody would have been talking about Baylor football. Hopefully he can follow that up with a solid season in 2011 and really start to gain some national attention.

Thanks to Baylor assistant director of athletics David Kaye for sending this along to me. If any other schools send along some Heisman campaign material I’ll be sure to share it with you.

Now I have the urge to dig up my old baseball and football card collection…
