This day in college football history, it all begins in New Jersey

On this day in 1869

On an open field in New Brunswick, N.J., Rutgers and Princeton staged the first game in American football history. Using 25 players to a side on a 120-yard field, Rutgers defeated Princeton 6-4.

No BCS standings, no realignment. Do you think these guys knew what they were bringing upon us all back in 1869?
