This day in college football history, Chris Spielman and Buckeyes upset #1 Iowa

November 2, 1985

College Football Hall of Fame linebacker Chris Spielman spearheaded a herculean effort by the No. 8 Ohio State defense to cut down No. 1 Iowa 22-13 in Columbus, Ohio. Spielman compiled 19 tackles, capped by a fourth-down stop of Hawkeyes tailback Ronnie Johnson inside the Buckeyes 10-yard line. Spielman also corralled two of future College Football Hall of Famer and Iowa quarterback Chuck Long’s four interceptions, who threw for just 169 yards on the day.
