To date, there have been 31 announced coaching changes to be made before the 2013 college football season, including 16 from BCS AQ conferences. Here is a look at the updated coaching changes. This is updated as needed.

  • April 10, 2012 – Arkansas fires Bobby Petrino.
  • April 23, 2012 – Arkansas hires Weber State head coach John L. Smith to short-term contract for 2012 season.
  • October 21, 2012 – Idaho fires head coach Rob Akey. Offensive coordinator Jason Gesser named interim head coach.
  • November 4, 2012 – Kentucky announces they will fire head coach Joker Phillips, who will coach the remainder of the regular season.
  • November 17, 2012 – Western Michigan terminates contract of head coach Bill Cubit.
  • November 18, 2012 – Tennessee announces Derek Dooley will not return and coach final game. Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney named interim head coach.
  • November 19, 2012 – UTEP head coach Mike Price announces retirement
  • November 20, 2012 – Cal releases head coach Jeff Tedford.
  • November 24, 2012 – Arkansas announces they will not bring back John L. Smith.
  • November 25, 2012 – North Carolina State relieves Tom O’Brien os duties. Offensive coordinator Dana Bible named interim head coach.
  • November 25, 2012 – Auburn dismisses Gene Chizik.
  • November 25, 2012 – Purdue dismisses Danny Hope. Wide receivers coach Patrick Higgins named interim head coach.
  • November 25, 2012 – Boston College announces Frank Spaziano will not return.
  • November 25, 2012 – CBSSports.com reports Colorado has dismissed Jon Embree.
  • November 26, 2012 – Southern Mississippi dismisses Ellis Johnson.
  • November 26, 2012 – Kentucky hires Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops as head coach.
  • December 1, 2012 – Georgia State hires Indana State head coach Trent Miles.
  • December 1, 2012 – North Carolina State hires Northern Illinois head coach Dave Doeren.
  • December 2, 2012 – Northern Illinois promotes offensive coordinator Rod Carey to head coach.
