Video: Future of the Temple Owls In Action

Temple signs best recruiting class in program history

Temple vs. Penn State

Sometimes I get the sense that Temple fans think I’m scoffing at the notion of discussing their beloved Owls (not all of them, just a vocal minority). I get it. They do not like my stance and opinions on the state of Temple football as it is related to the big boys of college football and what I have to say about where Temple fits in to the continuing realignment saga that carries on in college football. I like to think I have viewed Temple in an honest and fair way when discussing the future of Temple, which often rubs some Owls supporters the wrong way.

As someone who has lived in the Philadelphia region my entire life I have always wanted Temple football to be something worth talking about. It was not until Al Golden started to build something that this was the case.

Golden has left but Steve Addazio continues to keep the pot boiling down on Broad Street. On National Signing Day Temple announced a recruiting class of 27 players, a school best, and they have been ranked as the top recruiting class in the MAC by Rivals.com (but I ask, which is the best recruiting service?). To top off the recruitment of 27 high school players, Temple also welcomes former Penn State quarterback Kevin Newsome as a transfer student (he is eligible to play immediately in 2012 after sitting out the entire 2011 season in State College). Here’s hoping things work out for Newsome with his second opportunity to play college football (just hang on to the football kid).

This morning I was sent this video of Temple’s football recruiting class in action. SO if you happen to have 18 minutes to spare, hit the play button and soak in all of the glimpses in to the future of Temple football.

Enjoy.
