Nebraska to wear black uniforms? Retro? Your guesses are now allowed

Nebraska has one of the best uniforms in college football, as evidenced by their run to the Final Four in Crystal Ball Run’s Uniform Madness (which determined the top uniform, rather than our own bracket here). Today Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne confirmed that the Huskers will wear an alternate uniform for one game in 2012, but stated that it will not be outlandish.

Nebraska plans to wear an alternate uniform for one home football game this season, though athletic director Tom Osborne says the design won’t diverge much from the Cornhuskers’ traditional look.
Osborne said Monday the design has not been finalized. He couldn’t offer any details other than that the uniforms would be “futuristic” but “not outlandish.”
Osborne said adidas, the Huskers’ apparel and footwear provider since 1995, proposed changing the color of the helmets. Osborne said the white helmet with the iconic red “N” would not be touched.
If you have been following along with us, you know what we would advise against.
Some from Nebraska may say otherwise, and given the initial report from Osborne it seems that anything with black might be a stretch.

like the uniform pictured, but change the helmet. always thought the "N" on the helmets should be alot bigger. also the design of the helmet needs to change, skull and crossbones maybe, heck put a corn cob on the back next to the number. change is "ok"!!!!!!!
I think we keep the white helmet and wear green jerseys with red numbers. Green pants with red stripes!
Why not just the uniforms that they are showing above!!! You could do the same jersey styles in red and white tops and bottom. Then helmet works with all three combinations along and it never has to change!!! It's all about options these days so you stand out from the rest of the nation.
I am all for it. I am even OK with a black mate helmet with a shiny black N. Kind of like ASU's new helmets. Change is good.
Blackshirts skull and bones on helmet, little red "n"'s or corncobs like Ohio state. Black helmets red stripe down middle. Red jerseys w/ black #'s white outline. Black and white stripes on shoulder. Red pants black stripe white outline, black shoes and socks
Just as an update...Osborne's secretary issued and email stating that the helmet color could be one of the changes. Check out Huskermax.com
leave the helmets as is wear black jerseys with white numbers outlined in red leave pants as is that is what they can wear for one home game.
