Getting you caught up on college football news

This is going to be a major day for college football changes, with a number of press conferences scheduled around the country and multiple schools to announce new conference homes. We know what those changes will be, but here is a refresher of what is going down today…

Conference USA is adding UT-San Antonio, North Texas, Charlotte, Louisiana Tech and Florida International. The Mountain West Conference will add San Jose State and Utah State. With all of the changes taking place today, in addition to the moves already scheduled for 2013, we continue to bid farewell to the WAC as a football conference.

TCU is not announcing any conference changes, although they are a few months removed from their last announcement so they may be due. TCU’s AD Chris Del Conte also rejected the notion he may be leaving for Stanford, who is now in need of an athletics director. In addition to more conference shuffling, the Big 12 will be introducing their new commissioner today. Stanford athletics director Bob Bowlsby will assume the position Friday morning.

BYU and Boise State have announced that their game originally scheduled for September 22 will be moved up a couple of days to Thursday, September 20. The game will be broadcast by ESPN to a national audience. The game is a home game for Boise State, which will be played five days after hosting Miami Ohio. BYU will be coming off the same amount of rest after a road game at in-state rival Utah. The schedule change was made as part of the Mountain West Conference’s agreement with ESPN to broadcast four games this fall.

Tulane wants an on-campus football stadium. Despite having support from the New Orleans Saints and the mayor of the city, the city council is requiring an Interim Zoning District Hearing, which will delay the process.

The CFL Draft took place yesterday, with 16 NCAA players and one NAIA player being drafted up north. So, when is the UFL Draft?
