Each week I will be profiling one Heisman Trophy candidate for CBS Local. These profile pieces will be posted every Wednesday or Thursday to each of the local affiliates under the CBS Local network. Odds are if CBS has an affiliate in your neck of the woods, you will see my Heisman Trophy profile available on your local website. The first two profiles that were posted looked at Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel and Clemson’s Tajh Boyd.
This week it was time to head west and put the spotlight on Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, who just may be on top of my non-existing ballot right now. This weekend Mariota could be prepared to pile up some huge numbers a sOregon takes on Cal in Pac 12 play. From my Heisman profile of Mariota;
Mariota’s overall production should continue to turn in big numbers as the Ducks move in to Pac 12 play. That begins this weekend when the Ducks host Cal. Last season, Mariota passed for a career high of six touchdowns and 377 yards in a 59-17 rout of the Bears. Mariota set a new career high for passing yards last weekend against Tennessee, passing for 456 yards.
I will share the links to my latest Heisman profiles on CBS Local once they are available, using my local Philadelphia affiliate. But remember that these will be syndicated on every CBS Local website in the country so you should be able to find it under your local CBS sports pages.
