UTSA’s white helmet combines awesomeness of matte and chrome

I love matte helmets (and I cannot lie). I also dig chrome helmets in most circumstances. Few schools have been adventurous enough to try and combine the two trendy helmet styles, but UTSA proves why doing so can turn out to be something pretty great.

The style of this new white helmet to be worn in 2014 is done in a matte finish and highlighted by an orange chrome face mask and decals. It looks pretty darn sexy, if I do say so myself.

I cannot wait to see what this looks like on the field and on TV. I think having a matte finish is a great move for a white helmet, and having a chrome logo should make for quite a contrast. For a relatively new program like UTSA, I applaud this helmet decision. I still prefer UTSA’s dark blue helmet, but the white helmet looks solid and I will not blame UTSA for violating the alternate white uniform rule in my book. This is a program still finding its identity in a sense, and the 2014 season should be a fun one for the school. UTSA is in year two in Conference USA this fall and is now officially recognized as an FBS program after the NCAA approved its reclassification to end the transition period.

This helmet gets a nod of approval from yours truly. What do you think? Leave your thoughts in the comment section.
