If you thought once we got to the college football season that off-field drama would disappear, think again. Here we are, midway through the regular season for most schools and we are talking about Jameis Winston and Todd Gurley for non-football reasons. Winston continues to have the alleged sexual assault looming over him in some capacity and now his eligibility as a student at Florida State is at risk, and now he has an autograph concern on top of that. Georgia’s Todd Gurley is also sitting out of action while an investigation into his eligibility is ongoing.
It sort fo takes away from some of the good stories in the sport, a couple which just so happen to be coming from the state of Mississippi. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have topped the major polls for the first time in school history, and Ole Miss isn’t doing too badly either. The two schools are the only undefeated teams left standing in the SEC, and that has many wondering which has the best chance to go undefeated the rest of the way? Or is the team wiht the best chance to get out of the loaded SEC West still playing home football games in the state of Alabama?
We also have some good football games going on this weekend, including one Winston is expected to be playing in (at least as of this posting). Florida State hosts Notre Dame in a game that has me reflecting back on 1993’s Game of the Century (I’ll share some thoughts on that tomorrow). The Big 12 also has some key games to pay attention to this weekend.
Joining me on the podcast once again is Andy Coppens of Talking 10 (Twitter, Facebook) and Madtown Badgers (Twitter, Facebook). In addition to all of the topics above, Andy and I skip around the Top 25 and touch on a number of the match-ups this coming weekend. As always, I invite you to leave your feedback in the comment section, or to send me a message on Twitter.
