Episode 151 – Big games in the Big Ten and Big 12

Check out this week's podcast for a preview of some of these games and more!

The second weekend of November figures to have plenty on the line for teams in the Big Ten and the Big 12. First place is on the line in the Big 12 with TCU hosting Kansas State. The winner will be sitting in a good position to wrap up the Big 12 championship in the coming weeks, but whichever team wins also gets to stay in the conversation for the College Football Playoff. In the land of the Big Ten, Ohio State heads to East Lansing to pick up some revenge against Michigan State. It was the Spartans who brought Ohio State’s championship dreams to a halt last season in the Big Ten Championship Game. This time it is the Spartans looking to get a chance to carry the Big Ten banner into the College Football Playoff.

While the Big 12 and Big Ten championship hunt will seem to provide some clarity this weekend, there are a few other games well worth paying attention to. Notre Dame traveling to Arizona State is certainly one of them. Though not a conference battle, the Sun Devils and Irish are each looking to make a statement to convince the selection committee to move them up the rankings next week. For Notre Dame, this could potentially be the last showcase game.Down in the always eventful SEC West, it is a relatively quiet weekend but Alabama at LSU is always worth watching. This is once again the case, because Alabama is the first team out in the playoff rankings. Alabama still gets Mississippi State and Auburn at home later this season, but the Crimson Tide have to keep moving forward to remain in the mix. A win in Baton Rouge is hardly ever easy to come by for visiting teams.

Joining me on the podcast once again is Andy Coppens of Talking 10 (Twitter, Facebook) and Madtown Badgers (Twitter, Facebook, Fancred). In addition to all of the topics above, Andy and I discuss the latest College Football Playoff rankings, top rivalries in college football and where the Group of Five race sits heading into the weekend. As always, I invite you to leave your feedback in the comment section, or to send me a message on Twitter.
