A before and after comparison of Syracuse’s new FieldTurf

Syracuse recently installed a brand new playing surface at the Carrier Dome, which I touched on over on College Football Talk a while back. The new playing surface is a brand new FieldTurf that is supposed to look even nicer on TV, as well as in person.

What I think is really cool is seeing the track and field markings uncovered from underneath the football field as the transformation is underway. As far as I know, Syracuse track and field does not use the Carrier Dome (Wikipedia says football, basketball and lacrosse calls the dome home; feel free to correct me if needed). You can see the basketball court on the far left as well, giving you an idea of how the stadium is set up for basketball if you have only ever seen the place on TV.

Now take a look at the difference between Syracuse’s old field and the brand spankin’ new FieldTurf.

Looking good, Orange.
