Uniform Madness: Maryland upsets Maryland!!!

Maryland’s yellow jerseys voted worst uniform of all

According to your votes, Maryland's yellow jerseys are the worst of the worst. Photo: Maryland Athletics.

Sometimes a Cinderella team can win the big prize at the end. Maryland’s yellow jersey uniform combinations, a five-seed out of the Oregon Region, have stunned Maryland’s much-maligned state pride uniforms, the tournament’s top-overall seed from the Maryland Region, in the championship round of our Worst College Football Uniform Tournament. You, the readers, voted the yellow jersey combo from the Terps to be worse than the State Pride uniforms? Honestly, I don’t know what you are all thinking, but this is a democratic society and the votes were counted by an independent source, so c’est la vie.

Maryland’s yellow football jerseys received 56.67 percent of the votes in the championship round over the course of the week. Quite frankly, this is a significant upset, because I actually kind of like Maryland’s yellow jerseys (fully aware that it violates the Yellow Uniform Code). So why so much disdain for this particular uniform compared to the one that actually looks like two separate uniforms sewn together in a middle school home economics family and consumer sciences class?

Maryland’s yellow jersey reached the championship round by knocking off Colorado State’s own yellow jerseys in the Final Four, Pittsburgh’s 2010 Pro Combat uniform, Stanford’s all-black uniform, and Virginia Tech’s orange helmet uniform combo.

From here we will begin to put together the 2013 Worst Uniform Tournament, which will begin next March with a full 64-uniform tournament. Until then the selection committee will review the profiles of all eligible participants for the next tournament. With Missouri showing off their new uniforms over the weekend and Eastern Michigan ready to sport a new uniform assortment as well, we know we are going to have a number of uniforms to review for the 2013 tournament.

Uniform Madness Championship: Maryland vs. Maryland

Maryland sets up all-Terrapins championship match-up

It all comes down to this epic match-up of uniform disappointment.

The voters have spoken, and Maryland is the owner of the worst uniforms in college football. After 30 other uniforms had their chance, the Maryland Terrapins managed to place two separate uniforms in to the championship round. Now the voters will cast one final ballot to determine which of Maryland’s uniforms is the worst of the worst.

Out of the Maryland Region we have the tournament’s top seed, the Maryland State Pride uniform. The State Pride uniform pulled away form a strong showing for the Wyoming uniform in the Final Four. Meanwhile, Maryland’s yellow jersey made a strong run through the Oregon Region, topping Colorado State’s own yellow uniform in the Final Four.

So, which uniform is the bigger disgrace to you college football fans? Vote in the poll below to tell us which one you like the least!

Polls will be open until Friday morning, and a winner will be confirmed later that day. Case your vote now and feel free to invite others to have their say. Will the favored State Pride uniform be named the worst of the worst, or does the yellow Maryland jersey have one more strong performance to show? The votes are in your hands!

Uniform Madness: Final Four voting now open!

Maryland State Pride vs. Wyoming; Maryland Yellow vs. Colorado State Yellow

The Final Four is set! Will Maryland get two in to the championship?

The Final Four of our Worst College Football Uniform Tournament is set! Your votes from the Maryland, Wyoming, Oregon and Pro Combat Regions have determined which uniforms are the worst of the worst, and now the time is near to determine which two will go head-to-head in a showdown of football uniform ineptitude.

Maryland State Pride vs. Wyoming

On one side of the bracket we have the monster showdown between top overall seed, and champions of the Maryland Region, the Maryland State Pride uniforms, and the Wyoming Cowboys uniforms, champions of the Wyoming Region. Both entered the tournament as a heavy favorite in their own regions and seemed destined to meet in the Final Four.

Wyoming is the traditional powerhouse when it comes to uniform dismay, but Maryland burst on the scene in 2011 with a bold statement right out of the gate, sporting these “state pride” uniforms in week one at home against Miami.

Cast your vote below to determine which uniform deserves a spot in the championship round. The favorite heading in to this match-up is the Maryland State Pride uniform, but as always, the votes are in your hands.

Battle of Yellow: Colorado State vs. Maryland.

On the other side of the bracket we have another representative from Maryland, with the yellow jersey making a surprise run to the Final Four stage. It will be paired up against one of the dark horses in this tournament, Colorado State’s yellow uniforms. While the yellow Maryland uniform is not as offensive as the State Pride uniforms on the other side of the bracket, the fifth-seed had an impressive run to this point. The selection committee pegged this uniform as one capable of making a run, but is it really deserving of this Final Four appearance? The people have spoken, and according to the votes it is well deserved.

The Colorado State jerseys are also deemed to be one of the least offensive yellow jerseys in college football, but compared to their standard green jerseys they just look a little weak.

Polls will be open all week-long, and closing on Saturday. The championship round will commence next Monday. Vote now, and spread the word!

Uniform Madness: Elite Eight poll updates

Favorites pulling away, with one close contest in Pro Combat Region

2012 Worst Uniforms Bracket

32 ugly duds, one fashion designer to be fired.

With just a couple of days remaining in the voting for the Worst College Football Uniform Bracket, we are seeing some lopsided results that the sportsbook reviews didn’t see coming. So far it looks as though the heavy favorites are going to waltz to the next round, and the possibility of seeing one school represented on both sides of the championship bracket are still alive. In the history of uniform brackets, done on various platforms, has that ever been done? I’ll go out on a limb and say no.

Remember, these votes are entirely determined by your participation, so be sure to cast your votes in each match-up, linked below the score updates. Feel free to get your friends to vote as well.

Uniform Madness: No. 2 Miami Pro Combat vs. No. 3 Colorado State yellow

Pro Combat Region: Region’s top seeds collide

The Final Four is about to be set in the 2012 Worst College Football Uniform Tournament, and we have the top two seeds in the Pro Combat Region going head-to-head. The second seeded Miami Pro Combats from 2010 handled Cal’s all-yellow uniforms with 62.07% of the votes in the previous round. Colorado State and their yellow jerseys held off a strong showing by Michigan State’s Pro Combat uniforms, receiving 57.38% of the votes in the previous round.

Vote below to determine which of these two uniforms deserves to be put away in a storage closet, never to see the light of day again until appearing on a future episode of Storage Wars? Voting is open until Friday night, with the next round starting Saturday.
