Coaching Carousel Timeline
- July 20, 2017 – Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze resigns as head coach. Co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Matt Luke named interim head coach.
Note: The cutoff point for offseason coaching changes came with summer media days. Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops resigned as head coach on June 7, with offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley being named the new full-time head coach. Oklahoma’s coaching change was recorded in the 2016-2017 Coaching Carousel for record-keeping purposes, although an argument may be made to have Oklahoma included in this table.
