Big Ten Championship Game scenarios for Nebraska, Michigan

November 21, 2012 Football No Comments

With one final weekend in the regular season to play, the battles for the Big Ten’s Legends Division championship will determine who goes to Indianapolis to play in the Big Ten Championship Game. In an odd twist this season, the Big Ten’s Leaders Division champion will not get to play for the Big Ten’s automatic BCS spot, as the Ohio State Buckeyes are serving a postseason ban this season and are ineligible for the championship game and a bowl game.

Even though Ohio State has clinched the outright Leaders Division title this season and can complete an undefeated season this weekend, it will be the Wisconsin Badgers heading to their second straight Big Ten Championship Game. Wisconsin locked up a spot in the championship game a couple of weeks ago, thanks in part to Ohio State and Penn State being ineligible. Wisconsin lost a tough one to Ohio State last weekend and heads to Penn State this weekend looking to build some momentum as they prepare to return to Indianapolis next week.

Figuring out who Wisconsin will face is pretty straight forward. It will be Nebraska or Michigan. … Continue Reading

Athlon Sports asks who is best Big Ten bowl eligible team

Are the Michigan Wolverines the best the Big Ten will have to offer this postseason? I think so. Photo: Getty Images

I was asked to take part in a round table discussion of sorts with the guys from Athlon Sports this week. The question was which team in the Big Ten is the best bowl-eligible team. The truth is, those two might be the best teams in the Big Ten but of course they are each ineligible for postseason play.

So who are we left with? Nebraska? Michigan State? Wisconsin?

I’m going with the Wolverines, despite their losses to Alabama and Notre Dame this season. … Continue Reading

Notre Dame and Michigan are a hard habit to break

September 26, 2012 Video 8 Comments

You never know what you had, until it’s gone

So here’s the story. Notre Dame passed a note to Michigan before the kickoff of Saturday’s big game in South Bend. The note explains to Michigan that it’s not you, it’s me and says they are going their separate ways. It’s like high school all over again, where Michigan has to put aside any bitter feelings and be polite as their ex moves on to their new partner, in this case the ACC. To further complicate things, Notre Dame roughed up the Wolverines in front of their fans.

There is no confirmation to the rumor that Dave Brandon returned home and pasted a picture of Jack Swarbrick in his burn book later that weekend.

With the rivalry between the two schools coming to an end, we figured it was time for an official breakup video, set to the tune of Chicago’s Hard Habit to Break.
