For Maryland, pressure of making the right hire is high

Randy Edsall
October 9, 2015

It would appear the end of the Randy Edsall Era at Maryland is in its final days. Multiple reports have said Maryland will let go of Edsall as head coach of the Terrapins, although the exact timing of the decision becoming official is unknown. For now, Edsall will be the head coach with Maryland heading to Ohio State this weekend, with the bye week looming. Like this? Why not share…

September 27, 2015

Navy seems to be enjoying their first year as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Midshipmen have already secured two victories in conference play, including yesterday’s 28-13 victory against Connecticut. As is typically the case, Navy’s success starts with the performance of quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who continues to be moving closer to making some NCAA history more commonly reserved for running backs. Reynolds rushed for three touchdowns in…

College football may still be a little under two months away, but that does not mean it is too early to start doing some projecting. Today I am starting to reveal my offseason win projections, and what more appropriate way to get it started than by sorting through the American Athletic Conference. After all, it is the most patriotic conference in college sports and it is July 4 (sorry Conference…

Navy football has always been an American tradition. Now it is an American Athletic Conference tradition. Today Navy’s addition to the American Athletic Conference became official, bringing the conference’s membership up to 12 members to open the door to a brand new conference championship game starting this fall. “I am proud and delighted to take this opportunity to welcome the United States Naval Academy into the American Athletic Conference as…

Justin Hardy
June 29, 2015

The 2014 season was the second full season for the American Athletic Conference since rebranding from the shambles of the final days of the Big East, yet it saw more changes in conference make-up. Rutgers left the conference to begin competing in the Rutgers, but East Carolina, Tulsa and Tulane all joined the fold to bring the membership to 11. The conference will welcome one more new member this season…

Diving in to the world of concept helmets

Oklahoma concept helmet design
February 19, 2015

I try to avoid getting caught up in the idea of concept uniforms and concept helmet designs, but I recently stumbled across the designs put together by Dylan Young, of Deeyung Entertainment. While most of the designs seem to follow a similar formula (take the team’s logo, blow it up and plaster it on the side of a helmet), I was intrigued by a few of the designs I saw….

August 27, 2014

My wife loves college football. Well, maybe she doesn’t love it, but she does get excited for the season when she hears the ESPN college football theme and she will get excited to watch some of the best games of the season. How did I get so lucky? She also has a pretty good track record with her sports predictions. She successfully predicted a Super Bowl match-up between the New…

Go Army! Go Navy! Go Air Force! And thanks for all you do

Army Navy Game 2013
September 11, 2013

I am reminded every December of the young men and women who choose to serve our nation no matter the circumstances. Every year when Army and Navy get together for what I consider to truly be the best rivalry in college football, we are all reminded of the sacrifices those who defend our nation take on. Every year on September 11 I am reminded of the attacks and the lives…

CBS releases 2013 SEC Game of the Week schedule, opens with Alabama vs. Texas A&M

CBS is entering its 13th season broadcasting SEC football and this one is going to start with what could be the game of the year. The CBS SEC Game of the Week coverage begins Saturday, September 14 with the much-anticipated match-up of SEC West powers, Alabama and Texas A&M. The Aggies, of course, stunned the eventual BCS champions last year in Tuscaloosa so Nick Saban and his Tide will be…

2013 Navy football trailer leaves you wanting more

Few programs put together as solid of a trailer video for the upcoming season the way Navy does. Whether it is a sense of national pride just while watching these videos, or the realization that these players will ultimately be taking on a much more important role than football player in the near future, I just love when Navy releases a new football video. This morning we were treated to…
